ADVICE FOR UNCERTAIN TIMES: TALKS WITH CHRIS JOHNSON – PART 1

Chris Johnson is an interior designer and founder of Studio88, the west coast’s first-ever interior design co-working space. With over 40 years of experience in the industry, she is the founder of Design Tec, an award-winning interior design firm that she recently expanded to create a Commercial division specializing in the multifamily marketplace. We checked in with Chris for her advice for uncertain times. We thought the design community might benefit from a little pep talk from a designer and business owner with her level of experience.

REMEMBER YOUR VISION

With everything going on in the world today, Chris’s work ethic and positive attitude are more valuable than ever. To tap into her innovative thinking, we chatted with her about some of the most important lessons she’s learned through the challenges she’s overcome in her career.

“The key is to never give up,” Chris says. “Throughout my career, I have experienced successes and failures but these lessons have built character. Along the way, I’ve learned to always keep the vision of the final product alive and do whatever it takes to get the job done.”

Undeterred by unexpected challenges, Chris remains focused on her passion for honing the talents and skills of her design team and offering a place for other design professionals in the industry to come to work, collaborate, and get support for their business. During uncertain times, Chris’s advice is to keep in mind the bigger picture of your interior design business, and most importantly, never stop working towards its fruition.
